Q: Why are you
running for Assembly?
Moises: I
have been deeply involved in our community, I've raised my family here,
and I've lived right here in this neighborhood nearly all my life. I
know our neighborhood, I know how to work as a team member, and I know
how to get things done. I believe I can help to really make a difference.
Q: What experience
do you have that qualifies you?
Moises:
My years of experience as a community volunteer have taught me about
this community and the people who live here. For twenty years, I've
worked one-on-one and as part of a team to solve local problems to make
things better. I know how to listen. I have testified before the legislature
and know how it works. I believe I can provide a voice for our community
and a fresh perspective from someone who hasn't been a politician for
years.
Q: Some people
speak of this as the "Hispanic Assembly District." Are you
running as the "Hispanic candidate"?
Moises: I
like to believe that I'm running as the best candidate. I'm an American,
born and raised. I'm proud of my heritage, but I am just as proud of
the years of volunteer work I've done in this neighborhood and this
community. I'm running to serve all the people of Assembly 28 and of
Nevada. I think I am the best qualified candidate to do that.
Q: Who is a role
model for you? Why?
Moises: My
mom. She only completed the 4th grade, yet she taught me the importance
of education. She taught me the importance of reading through her example
of always reading. I owe a lot to my mom. She taught me that no matter
the circumstances, we need to be positive. She also taught me never
to give up no matter what the challenge may be.
